….more great sound ideas!

Sound seems to be the new black lately! The upsurge of fantastic sound supported resources is great. TTS have a range of great ideas such as the talking postcard, speech bubble, photobook, labels, fridge magnets and even talking bottle openers to be used as promotional ideas.Check out their speaking and listening section:

Soundbeam reinvents itself!

At last weeks Inspiring Inclusion exhibition held at Pioneer School in Basildon, Essex I came across Tim from Soundbeam. This technology has been around for a while now but he showed me lots of ideas to be used in both special and mainstream education. The thing that really fascinated me was the fact that you can project a sound or sound effect onto a ‘magic’ chair or carpet so that only the person on that chair or carpet can control the sound. I started to think about activities linked to Circle time, creative writing or Philosophy 4 children activities. If the person on the chair had control of the sound then they would have the ability to talk surrounded by atmospheric sounds, music or sound effects.

Added to this is the fact that there are, seemingly, limitless sounds, chords, music, sound effects that can be linked to this machine as well as recorded sounds! This means the persons own voice can be played back to them in many different ways.

Time to check out Soundbeam again I think…..we need to think creatively and use it in mainstream schools as well as in the fields of special education
